The SCVUHS English Language Learner Program provides students with instruction in English Language Development (ELD) per Arizona state law. Students, enrolled in four classes, study reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary. The district uses the AZELLA testing instrument to determine in which ELL classes it places a student.

Ms. Letitia Abbott, our ELL teacher, is a highly qualified individual who serves your child with expertise. Her qualifications include:

• Certification in secondary education English and history
• K-12 endorsements in English as a Second Language (ESL), Gifted Education, and Reading Specialist
• Administrative certification as a supervisor
• Coordinator for both the ELD program and the Gifted program.

The district will notify parents of the district's performance in providing services and meeting the goals established by the state.
